Campanian wines: a heritage waiting to be discovered
Campania’s winemaking story unfolds across landscapes that are profoundly diverse yet linked by a common thread of volcanism, the sea, and millennia-old tradition. At the foot of Vesuvius, on lava soils of rare minerality, Lacryma Christi—whether white or red—is born, a wine that encapsulates centuries of history and its discreet proximity to the Gulf of Naples in every glass. Not far away, on the terraces suspended between the sky and the Mediterranean along the Amalfi Coast, “heroic viticulture” yields wines with a bold personality, where Falanghina, Biancolella, and Piedirosso grow overlooking the sea, amid lemon groves and cliffside villages designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
In the Benevento hinterland, the Sannio region boasts the largest area under vine in the region: here, Falanghina del Sannio DOCG is joined by Aglianico, Greco, and Fiano, grown on rolling hills in a more intimate and lesser-known landscape of medieval villages and historic wineries.
